Edward Gerald Pokorny Sr., age 86, of Levittown, passed away on Wednesday, January 3, 2024. "Popcorn" as he was affectionately known by many, was born and raised in Donora, PA and moved to Levittown in the 1960's. He spent the first half of his career working various jobs at US Steel Fairless Works. After his retirement from the Steel Mill, he began his second career as a school bus driver for Pennsbury School District. Popcorn enjoyed a fun and fulfilling career and ultimately retired in 2018.
Popcorn was a devout Christian and long time member of the former St. Joseph the Worker Parish. He faithfully attended the 7 AM Sunday Mass at St. Frances Cabrini Church. Recently, his dear friend Bill made sure to bring him Communion each week when he was unable to attend Mass for health reasons.
Popcorn was a passionate Pittsburgh Steelers fan who proudly wore his team apparel and cheered for his team any chance he got! In earlier years, he enjoyed tinkering with cars of all makes and models.
Edward was predeceased by his loving wife, Judith A. (nee Mills); his daughter, Teena Richardson; his parents, Antonio and Mary Pokorny; a sister Patricia Harger and a brother Bob Pokorny.
He is the beloved father of Edward G. Pokorny, Jr; grandfather of Mason Richardson and uncle of Timothy Harger and Kim Pierce. Popcorn also leaves behind many dear friends and former co-workers to cherish his memory.
Interment and Services will be held privately at this time.
In memory of Popcorn, the family suggests contributions be made to have a daily Mass dedicated for him at St. Frances Cabrini Parish, 325 S. Oxford Valley Road, Fairless Hills, PA 19030.
