Ed was born in Philadelphia, and was raised in Croydon. He lived in Penndel for 25 years and returned to Croydon in 2000. He lived on the Neshaminy Creek where he called his home "The Catfish Bend Yacht Club", and launced his Pontoon Boat every day!
For 25 years, Ed was employed with Greenwood Dairies as a Milkman. After the closing of Greenwood Dairies, he was the owner/operator of a lunch truck company for 10 years and then began a 10 year career as an over the road truck driver.
Ed was a member of the Penndel Rescue Squad and was a Troop Leader with the Boy Scouts of America.
Beloved husband of Sharon A. (Yackle) O'Connell, Ed is the loving father of Edward Charles O'Connell IV (Carla), Lynda O'Connell Jones, Cindy O'Connell (Bob Clark) and Richard O'Connell (Jennifer); and step father of Elizabeth Bauder (Glenn) and Lisa Brosnan.
He is the dear grandfather of 10; proud great grandfather of 2; and dear brother of Claire Swenson.
Ed will also be sadly missed by several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, Clara Mae (Dontonville) and Edward C. O'Connell Jr. and his sister, Jean Goodan.
Family and friends are invited to call on Wednesday, November 27, 2019, from 5:00 until 7:00 pm at the James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc., 2200 Trenton Road, Levittown. Interment will be held privately.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Ed's name may be made to a charity of donor's choice.
