Douglas A. Greenfield Sr. of Levittown died on Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at his home. He was 89.Born in Philadelphia, Mr. Greenfield was a long time resident of Levittown and member of Queen of the Universe parish.He was employed at U.S. Steel's Fairless Works for 28 years until retiring and then worked for the New Jersey Environmental Protection Agency for 10 years.Mr. Greenfield was one of the founders of youth boys lacrosse in the Pennsbury School District where he served as a coach for 17 years and was the namesake of the annual Doug Greenfield Cup Tournament. He had continued to serve as an assistant coach until a few years ago and was known to many of the players as “Grandpa.” Beloved husband of the late Alice, he is the loving father Lynn M. Thorson (Peter), Arthur Greenfield (Heidi), Douglas A. Greenfield Jr., Steven J. Greenfield and Marie T. Althouse.He will also be missed by 11 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.Family and friends are invited to call from 6 until 8 p.m. on Sunday and 8:30 until 9:30 a.m. on Monday at the James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc., 2200 Trenton Rd., Levittown. His funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday at 10 a.m at Queen of the Universe Church followed by Rite of Committal at All Saints Cemetery, Newtown.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Pennsbury Scholarship Foundation, Box 338, 134 Yardley Avenue, Fallsington, PA 19058.
