Dorothy A. Murphy Dorothy A. ("Dotty") Murphy passed away on February 27, 2014 in Melbourne, Florida, after a brief illness. She was 89 years old. A longtime resident of Fairless Hills, Dotty most recently lived in Langhorne at the Attleboro Retirement Community. Born in Brooklyn, she married Frank Murphy in 1946 and moved to Queens where their four children were born. A job transfer took them first to Framingham, Massachusetts and then to Fairless Hills. Dotty joined the staff of Bishop Egan High School as a secretary in 1974 and retired in 1989. She and her beloved Frank spent winters in Florida prior to his death in 2000. While devastated by her death, her family takes great comfort in the full and active life she led, the many friends she made throughout her life and the enormous circle of people who loved her. She embraced life completely, enjoyed herself thoroughly and loved unconditionally. She will be greatly missed by her children: Maureen Carlson and her husband, Bob; Jim and his wife, Karen; Frank and his wife, Debbie; John and his partner Paul; as well as by her grandchildren: Jill and her partner, Jen; Michael and his wife Donna; Frank and his wife, Chrissy; Kelly, and her fiancee, Chris; and great-grandchildren: Peyton, Cade, Olivia, Jack, Tyler and Molly will fondly remember her Calling hours will be on Thursday, March 6, 2014, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday, March 7, 2014 from 8 to 9 a.m. at the James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, 2200 Trenton Road, Levittown. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday morning at 9:30 a.m. at St. Frances Cabrini Church in Fairless Hills, followed by the Rite of Committal at Resurrection Cemetery in Bensalem. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to your favorite charity or casino.
