

Dennis Murphy, Jr, age 86, formerly of Fairless Hills, passed away peacefully Friday, September 2, 2022. Born in Brooklyn and raised in the Bronx, he attended Sacred Heart School and Rice High School prior to moving to Fairless Hills, PA. He was a graduate of Pennsbury High School in 1954, employed by US Steel Fairless Works for 36 years and was a Pennsbury School bus driver for 20 years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and St. Frances Cabrini parish for many years.
Dennis’ talents were many, he swam, ran track, and played basketball in high school, played softball in the steel mill league, was an avid New York Yankees and Philadelphia Eagles fan, a beloved husband, father, uncle, grandfather, and friend who loved to watch and talk sports. He was fortunate enough to attend the last public appearance of Babe Ruth in Yankee Stadium on June 13, 1948.
Preceded in death by his parents, Denis and Lena Small Murphy, and brother Patrick Murphy. He is survived by his teenage sweetheart and wife of 65 years, Carol Byrnes Murphy; three daughters and sons-in-law, Carol Murphy and Chuck Pisauro, Joann Murphy and Jim Davidson, and Nanci Murphy and Tomo Thompson; a son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Christi Murphy, and four grandchildren, Lauren, Stephen, Jenna and Denny. He was also the brother to Margaret Regan and Lena Souza.
His funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 7, 2022, at Queen of the Universe, 2443 Trenton Road, Levittown, Pa. 19056 where family and friends may call from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., and mass immediately afterwards. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, 5201 Hulmeville Road, Bensalem Pa. 19020 at 11:30 a.m.
