Clara May McClay Clara May McClay went to be with her Lord on Monday, July 6, 2015 at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was 89. Born and raised in Philadelphia, Mrs. McClay was an original Levittown homeowner, moving to Bensalem 8 years ago. A graduate of Kensington Girls High School, Mrs. McClay went on to work at American Express before devoting herself to her growing family. An active and dedicated member of Elkins Park Reformed Presbyterian Church, she served as a Deacon and Treasurer for many years, and volunteered to cook for the White Lake Covenanter Camp for many summers. Her family was her life. She loved to cook and bake, making countless birthday and wedding cakes for family and friends. Each meal and cake was prepared with love, kindness and a gentle touch. Beloved wife of 59 years to the late Robert, Mrs. McClay is the loving mother of Robert A. (Nancy) of Camp Verde, AZ; Stephen E. (Lydia) of Quarryville, PA; Jerilyn L. Glynn (James) of Ellijay, GA; Kimberly A. Hatton (John) of Bensalem; and Laurie B. Nahm (Emil) of Levittown. She is the devoted grandmother of Peggy, Anthony, Laura, Missy, Rachel, Becky, Joel and Staci. Mrs. McClay will also be sadly missed by her brother, Edward R. Miller (Shirley); sister-in-law, Miriam Brookshaw; numerous nieces and nephews; and her cat, Tiger. A special thank you to the girls from Eleanor's Garden Hospice for all the love and compassionate care given to our mother. Family and friends are invited to call on Friday, July 10 from 6:00 until 8:00 pm and on Saturday, July 11 from 8:30 until 9:30 am at the James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc., 2200 Trenton Road, Levittown, where her funeral service will be held on Saturday at 9:30 am. Interment will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Roslyn. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her name may be made to Elkins Park Reformed Presbyterian Church, 901 Cypress Avenue, Elkins Park, PA 19027 or to White Lake Covenanter Camp, in care of Elkins Park Reformed Presbyterian Church.
