Mrs. Claire Louise Lex

Claire was born in Philadelphia, PA, to parents, Louis Theodore Engel and Mildred Elizabeth Engel (Heileman). She married the love of her life on April 21, 1951 and they built a beautiful family together, raising 5 children. Claire taught Sunday School and worked in the customer service field for S. Klein’s and Proctor and Gamble until her vision deteriorated.

Claire loved to knit, crochet, sew and read. She would sew halloween costumes and knit her grandchildren’s christening blankets, hats and sweaters. She was very active in her church from singing in the choir to being on the church council. She enjoyed the Saturday music jams and dancing.

Claire was preceded in death by husband, Ellwood (Bill) Lex; daughter, Debra Strong; grandson, Michael Kane Jr.; and mother, Mildred Engel.

Claire is survived by William (Cheri) Lex of Oldsmar, FL; John Lex of Lexington, NC; Claire (Tony) Caputo of Saint Cloud, FL; Lori (Phil) Michaels of Levittown, PA. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, 11 great great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

A viewing for Claire will be held Thursday, June 6, 2024 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc., 2200 Trenton Rd, Levittown, Pennsylvania 19056. A secondary viewing will occur Friday, June 7, 2024 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM, at the funeral home, followed by a service 10:00 AM, and burial at 11:30 AM at Pine Grove Cemetery, 1475 W County Line Rd, Hatboro, PA 19040.
