Kitty was born in Maple Shade NJ, to parents, John D’Orazio and Susan D’Orazio (nee Caruso). She was one of 7 children. She graduated from Mastbaum High School in 1948. Kitty was the successful owner of Kitty’s Luncheonette which was established in 1953 and is still in operation today. She is known by thousands of customers in Philadelphia and the surrounding area. She once said “I made a great living because of hard work and garlic and onions.”
Kitty loved animals of all types and her pet ownership spanned 8 decades. She bred German Shepards, had cats and dogs and even horses later in life and rode into her 70’s. Kitty enjoyed ceramics and had an artistic side. Kitty loved to cook for family and friends that stopped by her house and Sunday was always dinner if you showed up. She knew gathering for a meal was the foundation for a strong relationship. She loved weekly bible study and to worship on Sunday.
Kitty was a beacon of wisdom and compassion, offering sound advice and unwavering empathy to all those that she met along her life’s journey. Her common sense and generous spirit guided countless individuals through life’s challenges, including her children. Through her mentorship Kitty touched many lives, leaving a lasting legacy of kindness, advice and support.
Kitty was preceded in death by her husband Raymond Yanette, parents John D’Orazio and Susan D’Orazio (Caruso), brothers Anthony D’Orazio (Helen), John D’Orazio (Rose), Louis D’Orazio (Mary) Richard D’Orazio (Shirley/Tootsie) and sister Rita McGovern (Gene)
Kitty is survived by her sons Jude Yanette (Barbara), John Yanette (Cheryl), Troy Yanette, her daughter Debra Mullen, her grandchildren Anthony Yanette (Jessica), Raymond Mullen, Joseph Mullen, her step granddaughter Gina Simpson, her great grandchildren Anthony and Mia, her sister Mary Gasparotti (D’Orazio) and a large number of nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life for Kitty will be held on August 2, 2024 from 3:30 to 5:30 James Dougherty Funeral Home, 2200 Trenton Road Levittown, PA 19056.
In Lieu of Flowers, dentations in Kitty’s name may be made to an animal shelter or rescue of your choice.
