Carol was dedicated to her pursuit of knowledge. She received her Bachelor of Science in Cooperative Nursing at Cedar Crest College in 1967 when she also received a diploma from the Allentown Hospital School of Nursing. In 1977 Carol earned her Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Pennsylvania where she minored in education. In 1998 she earned her accreditations as a Family Nurse Practitioner from Rutgers University in Newark.
Carol was never with idle hands as she held many positions in her life. From 1967-1991 Carol held staff nurse positions at Allentown General Hospital, Portamedics and Family Help Inc. While also employed as a Nurse Educator at American Professional Education, Inc., Capital Health System/ Helene Fuld School of Nursing, and the Allentown General Hospital School of Nursing. Carol also kept busy as an adjunct professor at Burlington and Mercer County Colleges.
Acclaimed in her educational pursuit, Carol was awarded a Nurse Traineeship from the University of Pennsylvania as well as inducted into Sigma Theta Tau, International and Pi Lambda Theta.
Carol remained generous with her time in her community. She was a Deacon at Morrisville Presbyterian Church and volunteered her time with organizations: Rebecca Circle, Outreach Committee, Ivins Outreach Center, Morrisville Towers Commissary, Debora Circle and The Congressional Ministry Committee.
She belonged to many professional organizations including: The National League for Nursing, The Association of Diploma Schools of Professional Nursing, The National Coalition of Hospital Associated Schools and Colleges of Nursing, University of Pennsylvania Alumnae Association and The Cedar Crest College Alumnae Association.
Carol is predeceased by her husband, Rafael (Ralph) A. Hernandez and also by parents, Earl and Marion Koose.
Carol will be remembered as the loving mother of her three children: Stephen (Kelley), Michael (Jennifer), and Mary Feehan (John); as well as her stepchildren Rafael and Sonya. She was the doting grandmother of eight grandchildren: Aidan, Brianna, Tyler, Ella, Livia, Santino, Johnny, and Ahnika. Carol also leaves behind her brother, Earl (Sarah).
A graveside service for Carol will be held on Friday, January 19th at 10:00 am at the Ewing Cemetery, 78 Scotch Road, Ewing Twp., New Jersey 08628.
