Bernadette Moran-Rossi, age 68 of Langhorne, Pennsylvania, passed away suddenly on September 18, 2023. Born in Philadelphia, PA in 1954, Bernie lived most of her life in Langhorne, PA. She was a graduate of Bishop Conwell High School, Class of 1972, and she went on to study nursing and work in the healthcare industry.
Bernie was a person who always wanted to help others, which led her into her healthcare career. She was a Registered Nurse and worked for St. Mary’s Medical Center with oncology patients and also worked for Bayada and provided homecare visits. Most of her career was spent as a nurse and office manager for Dr. James Rossi’s family practice. She shared her expert knowledge with future healthcare workers in her adjunct role at Bucks Community College and by supervising pre-professional nursing students. Prior to her retirement, she worked as a patient advocate at Pennswood Village.
Bernie will be remembered as an amazing cook known for her Thanksgiving turkey, Christmas Monkey Bread and cookie platters, St. Patrick’s Day Brown Bread and Guinness Stew and other delicious dishes. During football season, she could be found cheering on her favorite team, the Philadelphia Eagles. She was full of life and loved (winning) family game nights, visits to Disney, trips to the Poconos and the Jersey shore, traveling to Ireland, and was particularly fond of girls’ weekends with her family. Her nieces, nephews, and grandchildren were blessed with her unconditional love and were spoiled with her birthday surprises, tea parties, unique and personalized Christmas gifts, and traditional Easter egg hunts. Proud of her Irish heritage, she never missed an opportunity to celebrate Irish traditions.
Bernie is survived by the love of her life, her husband, James C. Rossi. She is also survived by her children, Michael Schardinger (Gracie) of New York, William Schardinger of Langhorne, and Jonathan Rossi (Orlene) of Doylestown. Daughter of William and Bernadette Moran (nee Negler), Bernie will be sadly missed by her four brothers, William Moran, Jr. (Roberta Echard) of Bradenton, Florida, Thomas Moran of Levittown, and Kenneth Moran (Christine) of Langhorne, and Kevin Moran (Melinda) of Wrightstown, Pa.; and two sisters Teresa Moran-Hagan (James) of Yardley, and Cara Noonan (Phil) of Warrington, Pa. along with many nieces and nephews who adored her. She will also be missed by her grandson, Han Schardinger and ‘adopted’ daughter, Courtnie Palmer and grandson, Cole. She was preceded in death by her father, William, and beloved sister, Patricia, and sister-in-law Barbara ‘Bobbi’ Palmer.
Although Bernie will be missed every day, her memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved her.
A visitation for Bernadette will be held Friday, September 29, 2023 from 9:30 to 10:20 am at Queen of the Universe, 2443 Trenton Road, Levittown, Pennsylvania 19056. Words of remembrance and a dedication by the Nurses Honor Guard will follow from 10:20 to 10:30 am and her funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:30 am.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her name can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital at https://raise.stjude.org/fundraiser/4984007
