Barbara was born on October 17, 1943 to the late Theodore and Catherine Ehling. Barbara is survived by her husband of 60 years, John Salmon, her siblings Patricia Kanis and Theodore Ehling and her five children, John Salmon, Cathy Shutt (Jeff), Lisa Illiano (Salvatore), Patricia Ireland (Thomas) and Paul Salmon. Barbara has 9 adoring grandchildren, Elizabeth, Anthony, Alicia, Kelsey, Jamie, Joseph, Patrick, Justin and Kevin along with 6 great grandchildren.
Barbara graduated from Bishop Egan High School in 1961. She met her husband John working at Greenwood Dairies and soon married. Barbara raised 5 children before starting her career. She spent 2 years at Whitman’s Chocolates, managed a Cumberland Farms store for 13 years and then worked in management at United Marketing for 12 years.
Barbara loved spending time with family, doting over her grandkids and great grandkids. She was known for her gregarious personality and had a wonderful sense of humor. Barbara was quick witted and enjoyed humorous verbal jousts with her loved ones. She enjoyed visiting the beach for a few weeks every summer. Barbara was an avid bowler for many years and excelled in a number of local leagues. She was also a competitive scrabble player in her later years playing at the senior center. Barbara loved her pets and cared for many dogs and cats over the decades.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, March 4, 2024 from 9:30 AM until 11:00 AM at Queen of the Universe Church, 2443 Trenton Road, Levittown, PA 19056. A funeral mass will follow at 11 AM. Interment will be at Resurrection Cemetery, Bensalem, PA.
