Agnes J. Romanchek Agnes J. Romanchek, 89, of Levittown, a retired Vice President of First Fidelity Bank, died on Tuesday, May 14, 2013 in Chandler Hall, Newtown. Mrs. Romanchek was born in Hazleton, PA and graduated from Hazleton High School. Over the ensuing years, she took numerous courses through the American Institute of Banking, including a special program at Bucknell University. During her 30 year career in banking, Mrs. Romanchek rose from secretary to vice president. She started in 1954 with Farmers National Bank and worked through four subsequent mergers, retiring in 1984. While working in the banking industry, she was active in the Lower Bucks Chamber of Commerce, winning awards for signing new members. She was an active participant in fund raising for the United Way. She also served on the board of directors of the Lower Bucks YMCA. In 1983 she was installed as President of the Bucks County Bankers Association. She was the first woman to hold that office in the 60 year history of the organization. Mrs. Romanchek was an original Levittown homeowner in Bristol Township and was a member of Immaculate Conception Parish for over 50 years. She was predeceased by her husband, James. She is survived by her son James S. II, and his wife, Nancy and two grandsons, James P. (Autumn) and Todd D. (Emma Harrigan) Romanchek. She will also be sadly missed by a sister, Mary Petrichko of Middlesex, NJ and a brother, John Golias of Hazleton, PA along with several nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday, from 6:00 until 9:00 pm at the James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc., 2200 Trenton Road, Levittown. Her funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, 10:00 am at Immaculate Conception Church, 5201 Emilie Road, Levittown, PA 1957, followed by a Graveside service in Saint Joseph's Cemetery, Hazleton at 3:00 pm. There will be no calling hours on Friday.
