Thelma Hudson Murphy, 94, of Levelland passed away October 5, 2015. She was born February 5, 1921 in Pflugerville, Texas to parents Aubrey and Effie Hudson. She graduated from Texas Technological College with a Master’s degree in English. She began her love of educating children in 1943, having taught in Missouri, Tennessee, New Mexico, and several places in West Texas. Thelma loved to travel across the United States, as well as Europe, Mexico, and Canada. She loved and doted on her nieces and nephews as if they were her own. Thelma is preceded in death by her husband, Howard R. Murphy; her parents; brother, Roland Hudson; and infant sister, Dorothy Hudson. She is survived by her sister, Janie Zapotoczny of Levelland; brother, Elwin Hudson of Round Rock; and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service honoring her life will be held November 7, 2015 at 1:00 pm in the George Price Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Whitharral Cemetery.
