Odell Parker, 80, of Levelland, entered into his heavenly rest on November 20, 2012. Born on September 27, 1932 in McLennan County, TX, he was the son of E.J. and Bessie Wells Parker. Odell’s childhood years were spent in Brownwood, Littlefield, and in Colorado. He married Doris Morrow on May 21, 1954 in Clovis, NM, and they moved to Hockley County in 1955. Odell worked diligently for many years as a cotton farmer and cattle rancher in Levelland. He accepted Jesus as his Savior in 1963 and was a member of the Fairview Baptist Church. An avid fisherman, hunter and outdoorsman, his greatest joy was in spending time with his family and supporting them in every way possible. Odell’s devotion to family was unwavering.
Odell is survived by his daughter Phyllis Berg and her husband, Bob of Fort Worth, grandson Christopher Berg of Fort Worth, granddaughter Stephanie Berg of Irving, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, his parents and by four brothers and three sisters.
A funeral service celebrating Odell’s life will be on Nov. 24, 11:00 a.m. at Park Drive Baptist Church, Levelland with Rev. Syl Moore, Rev. Danny Morrow and Rev. Gil Ramirez officiating. Interment will follow at Littlefield Cemetery. Family visitation will be Nov. 23, 6:00-8:00 p.m. at George Price Funeral Home. The family suggests memorials to Park Drive Baptist Church or the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
