A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, September 15, 2011 at 2:00 pm at George Price Funeral Home Chapel in Levelland, Texas with Family Members officiating.
There will be a private burial in the City of Levelland Cemetery.
Juanita Marie Harper was born on September 17, 1920 in Bristow, Oklahoma, the daughter of Kenneth and Collie (Harris)Harper. She married W.A. “Dub” Nance on October 17, 1939. They moved to Levelland in 1941. She was a homemaker and helped her husband, “Dub” who operated Palace Drug for over fourty years.
She was an active community supporter and member of First Baptist Church of Levelland for over 60 years. She was revered as a teacher of an adult women’s Sunday School class for many years. She and her husband were involved in the church and sang in their later years with the senior adult (Sonshine?) Choir.
She moved to Andrews, Texas in 2007.
Hobbies and activities included helping with the March of Dimes in earlier years with her husband, playing bridge, sewing for her family and cooking. She was a perfect Christian housewife and hostess. She was also involved in 4-H, the Study Club and many other orginizations. She graduated from Drauhons Business College in Lubbock, Texas in 1937. She met “Dub” while working at Key Insurance. She later worked for the Hockley County Tax Assessor for many years.
She is survived by a son; Brian Kenneth Nance and wife, Eliza of Conway, South Carolina; two daughters; Colley Jean Hanks and husband, H.A. of Andrews, Texas, and Mary Ellen Culpepper and husband, David of Tupelo, Mississippi; eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Collie Harper; her husband, W.A. “Dub” Nance in April, 2009; one son, William Kenneth (Hoppy) Nance; two brothers, Eugene (Gene) Harper and William (Bill) Harper.
Juanita Nance finished her battle with Alzheimers, Sunday, September 11, as the world remembered 9-11-01. She died peacefully in her sleep after dealing with her illness and life’s tragedies in Christian faith.
