Jerry McMillan, Senior Class President, and wife, Patsy Knick McMillan, are in the center of this photo from our 2009 reunion.  Some six of this group are no longer among us.  Jerry, thanks for being the person you were.

Having known Jerry as a highly regarded friend since our teenage years together, I am so very saddened to hear of his passing.  I will always treasure the memories of that friendship and of Jerry's ever present smile.  Knowing that he is now with his Lord and Saviour, we can look forward to being greeted by that smile again someday. Patsy, you are also in our thoughts and prayers. Sincerely, Derry D. Harding

Jerry was a very special person to me and my family. My dad, Joe Campbell, and Jerry worked together for several years at Chieftain Pontiac.  It was Jerry who invited my dad to church which resulted in my dad meeting my mom, Faye Campbell, and the rest was history.  Jerry was my dad's best man in their wedding and Patsy registered guests. Jerry and my dad hunted together and kept in touch over the years. In later years, theirs was a relationship that seemed to just pick up where they left off with occasional phone calls even though they were separated by miles and illness. For me personally, I got the chance to work for Jerry at the Levelland Credit Bureau while going to college at SPC.  That was back in the days before computer automated credit bureaus.  We actually had to call creditors and type out reports.  I loved  working for him and I enjoyed getting to know him. He was genuine and caring, a man of true integrity. One day, I felt impressed to send him some flowers. It might have been Bosses Day or I may have just wanted to tell him that I appreciated him, I can't remember. I didn't know it, but it happened to be date of the anniversary of the tragedy that put him in the wheelchair. He was very touched and had tears in his eyes when he told me. I'm so glad I listened to my heart. I'm thankful for the time I got to spend with Jerry and the impact he has had on mine and my family's life. I know he and my dad are having a glorious time in heaven together! They're not suffering anymore and they are whole. Patsy, Lisa, Terry, and family you all will be in my thoughts and prayers in the weeks to come. Be comforted that you will see Jerry again someday in heaven. Love you all!

With Jerry it was always "the pleasure of his company," trite as it may sound.  Senior class president for Class of 1954, always had a good smile for everybody, very friendly, enjoyed a marvelous time on the Senior trip, beautiful wedding with Patsy...and the memories continue to flow.  Farewell, dear friend.

I worked with Jerry at the Levelland Sun News; he was always upbeat and kept me laughing. Years later after I had moved from the South Plains, I would return to visit my parents and more than once ran into Jerry and Patsy at the Mall. My sympathies, thoughts, and prayers are with you all.

I can honestly say Jerry was the finest man I ever met. He was caring, loving, honest and a true Christian man. He was a wonderful role model for so many and his service to his community is unsurpassed. He absolutely loved his family. In my lifetime I have never had such fond experiences with any other person. So, so many wonderful memories. I can't even begin to express  or share in this small space what this man met to me. I must say to Patsy that Jerry so often expressed to me his love, devotion and appreciation for you. You were his shining light always. My heart is absolutely broken and I feel such an emptiness with his passing but I know that without a doubt Jerry is in Heaven above, smiling, laughing, pain free and being that wonderful person we all loved. Someday my FRIEND we shall meet again. Rest in eternal peace.

We have a lot of good memories of younger days.  Dick frequently mentions the good times he had with Jerry when they were in school together and at one time lived in the same neighborhood. .....playing ball in the street, walking to West Elementary together, then growing up together.
Jerry was always polite to me and included me in their conversations.  We will miss him.
We know he had a rough road to travel these last years, but now he is at rest.

We have shared many journeys together, laughed thousands of times, endured many changes (and people, let's not call any names) and have stayed friends through it all. I cannot imagine how my life would have been without you in it. You have been a teacher, a mentor, kept me out of hot water, my co-prankster, my support during the trying times, my laughter during the good times, but most of all a valued and everlasting friend.  My eternal love to you and your most precious wife Patsy. You will forever be a part of me that I will cherish and never let go. Rest in heavenly peace my friend.
