Services for Hattie Hood 99 of Lubbock will be Saturday, November 2, 2013 at 1 pm at George Price Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be Friday, November 1, 2013 from 5pm to 7 pm at George Price Funeral Home.
Hattie Hood went to be with our Lord October 28 2013, at the age of 99 years and seven months. She was born on March 26, 1914, to Jack and Josie Dunlap on a farm outside Vernon, Texas. She grew up at a ranch north of Littlefield where she loved riding horses and bulls. She married Lester Loyd Hood on April 9, 1934 at her parent’s ranch house in Lamb County. They moved to Hockley County in 1940 and farmed northeast of Levelland in the community of Whitharral where she was actively involved in school events and the Church of Christ. Hattie had lived the last three years at Garrison Geriatric Education and Care Center in Lubbock where she passed peacefully in her sleep.
Hattie was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters; Opal Leggitt Barry, Agnes Grimes, Isabelle Foust, and Hazel Dooley; a brother, Andrew Dunlap; her husband Lester Loyd Hood, Sr. in 1971; and her son, Lester Loyd Hood, Jr. in 2003.
Survivors include her daughter, Casandra Hood Jay of Levelland; her son, Leamon Hood and his wife, Rebecca of Midland; her son Loyd’s soulmate, Sheelah Pagendarm of Lubbock; five grandchildren, Rodney Stanfield, Jeffery Stanfield, Lester Loyd Hood III (Sonny), Brandi Collins and Lincoln Hood; and four great grandchildren, Jared, Audra and Riley Stanfield, and Cody Henegar.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to a favorite charity.
