Edgar Hines

Willie Edgar (Ed) Hines, 93, passed away December 18, 2015 in San Angelo, Texas. Graveside services will be held at 2:30 pm Tuesday, December 22, 2015, at the City of Levelland Cemetery with David Noles officiating. A family visitation will be held at the George Price Funeral Home prior to the service beginning at 1:00 pm. Ed was born December 4, 1922 to Grady and Alice Hines in Gorman, Texas. He married Billye Faye Bradley in 1945 and they were long-time residents of Levelland, Texas. Ed served in WWII in the Army Air Force and in the Infantry in the European theater. After WWII, Ed worked in the oilfield industry for almost 50 years. He began his work with Eddie Chiles and the old Western Company in Levelland and Hobbs, New Mexico. He worked in several capacities in the oilfield and retired as a contract pumper working mostly in the Whiteface and Lehman, Texas area. Ed and Billye and their family worshipped at the Austin Street Church of Christ in Levelland, Taylor Street Church of Christ in Hobbs and upon returning to Levelland in the early 1960’s, the Cactus Drive Church of Christ. Ed was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Billye; all six of his brothers and sisters; his granddaughter, Brandi Hines, grandson Marcus Hines, and son-in-law David Cate. He is survived by his three children and their spouses, Vic and Paula Hines of Lubbock, Larry and Marybeth Hines of Lubbock, and Louann and Roy Harvey of San Angelo, Texas; grandchildren, Bren Hines of Lubbock, and Carrie Sherman and husband Steve of Fort Worth, and Dave Cate of San Angelo; and three great-grandchildren, Katie and Zannah Sherman, and Nicholas Cate. The family would like to thank the staff at Regency House in San Angelo, along with Dr. Chitwood and Gentiva Hospice of San Angelo for their caring kindness in Ed’s last days.
