Don Tyler, 67, of Anton, TX, passed gently at home on January 17, 2018, with his wife Bobbie, his daughter Kelli and his dogs beside him. Don was born in Pecos, TX, to Homer and Anita Tyler. Don was a member of the Big Spring High School Marching Band before beginning his career in auto mechanics in Dallas. In 1982, Don sold his shop in Anton, TX, to pursue a career in Law Enforcement. Don married Annette Davis in Dallas in 1972. They were blessed with two children, Kelli Chari and Kodey Ray. They moved to Anton in 1976. Don worked for Frontier Dodge as a Master Tech mechanic earning the coveted Gold Tool Kit Award from Dodge. Don opened his own shop in Anton and was appointed Constable Precinct 4 in Hockley County and went to join the Hockley County Sherriff’s Office and served 24 years with the department before retiring in 2007. Don married Bobbie Newton Stevens in 2001. They shared a passion for their Honda motorcycles traveling in 20 states and many National Parks, but it was in southern Utah where they found true joy in the majestic red rocks. Bobbie will scatter parts of Don’s ashes across the many places their adventures led them. Don was preceded in death by his parents Homer Tyler and Anita Walker. Don is survived by his devoted wife Bobbie Tyler of Anton, TX; daughter Kelli Tyler Hayes and husband Tommy of Lubbock, TX; and son Kodey of Littlefield. Don’s smile will live on in the eyes of his adored grandchildren Austin and Makinzi Tyler and their mother Summer Aduddell of Littlefield as well as his granddaughter Kyliegh of Lubbock. Don was cherished by his sister Barbara Reynolds of Dallas and his brother Howard Downs and wife Liz of Little Rock, Arkansas. He grew up with a large group of sweet aunts and many happy cousins. Don had many lifelong friends and the respect of the Law Enforcement community in Hockley County and they were a comfort to him in his last days. The Tyler family would like to thank Meggan Scott from Interim Hospice of Lubbock for her devotion to Don and his family during his illness. A celebration of life will be held at George Price Funeral Home Chapel in Levelland, TX, on Monday, January 22, 2018, at 2pm with Pastor Jesse Hodge officiating.
