In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Sherlene Cooper Dancy, brother-in-law Harvey Dancy, his sons Kenneth Cooper and Timothy McNeely, and his wife Louise Brown Cooper.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughter Lee Ann Gragg (Jerry) of Lenoir, his brother Leon Cooper (Eileen) of Willis, TX, his grandchildren Clint McNeely (Amber), Melanie McNeely, Tyler Gragg (Kayla), Josh Gragg (Jessica), Jessica Laws, his great-grandchildren Aria, Khaleesi, Arya, Taylor, Dax, Ava, Ivy, Kurigan, Elijah, and two great-great-grandchildren.
Weldon was a Freemason, a Noble of the Mystic Shrine, Oasis Temple, and a member of the Moose Lodge. He served in the US Navy. Weldon was a past member of Mountain Grove Baptist Church. He was an avid golfer, an accomplished bowler, and a fan of NASCAR racing.
A Celebration of Life will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, March 30, 2025, at Pendry's Lenoir Funeral Home officiated by Chaplain Tom Nesbit.
The family will receive friends for an hour prior to the service, from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Pendry’s Lenoir Funeral Home.
A private inurnment will take place at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Medi Home Hospice, 171 Monroe Lane, Lexington, SC 29072.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Autumn Care of Drexel and Medi Home Hospice for the love and care they provided.
