Walter Allen Rice

He was a loving father, loving husband, a good brother, and he adored his grandchildren. Walter served in the US Air Force. He was a proud lifetime member of the Elk River Fishing Club. He will be remembered for his great sense of humor.

Walter is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mildred Snyder Rice, his two children John Alan Rice (wife Jennifer) and Leah Anne Young (husband Courtney), his grandchildren Keegan Rice, Carter Rice, Schyler Young, Kensington Rice, Zollie Young, and Camden Rice, his siblings Wilson Rice, Willard Rice, Ivel Hunt, James Rice, and Danny Rice

He was preceded in death by his parents James Harvey Rice and Lillie Frances Looney Rice, his siblings Elsie Gilbert, Harvey Junior Rice, and Shirley Rice.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 PM until 2:00 PM on Monday, December 18, 2023 at Pendry's Lenoir Funeral Home. The funeral service will be follow at 2:00 PM, officiated by Pastor Rudy Hayes.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Wig Bank of Caldwell County or McCreary Cancer Center.

Walter is greatly loved and will be deeply missed.
