Mr. Clonch was born in Wilkes County to the late Thomas Willard Clonch and Jenney Dancy Clonch. He was a sander at Thomasville Furniture for 17 years and attended St. John’s Lutheran Church. He also served in the Army.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Frances McCreary; daughter, Patsy Miller, two brothers, Cecil Clonch and Alonzo Clonch; three sisters, Marie Brown, Hazel Reece, and Mary Zel Lynhart; and grandson, Bryan Keith Clonch.
Those left to cherish his memory are his sons, Gary Clonch and wife Patty of Lenoir, Robbie Clonch and wife Sharon of Lenoir; daughter, Judy C. Kidd of Lenoir; brother, Bruce Clonch of Wilkesboro; sisters, Ina Marley of Lenoir and Bertha Ramsey of Asheville; 9 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held Sunday, February 22, 2015 at Pendry’s Chapel at 3:00 p.m. with Dr. Charles Dickson and Chaplain Greg McKee officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. Military honors will be performed by the United States National Guard and the Caldwell County Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service.
Serving as pallbearers will be Chris Clonch, Michael Clonch, Bradley Clonch, Cregg Clonch, Bobby Ray Kidd, and Bishop Kidd. Serving as an honorary pallbearer will be Cedric Townsend.
The family respectively requests that memorials be made to the Caldwell County Veterans Honor Guard, P.O. 702, Hudson, NC 28645, and St. John’s Lutheran Church, 1781 Taylorsville Road Southeast, Lenoir, NC 28645.
