Ruth Hughes

Mrs. Hughes was born on September 22, 1920 in Wilkes County to the late Bill and Toie Triplett Woods. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Fred Hughes; three sons; one daughter; five brothers; Cecil, Vaughn, Vernon, Colon, and Homer Woods; and one sister-in-law, Ollie Woods.

She was a homemaker and a member of Temple Baptist Church of Lenoir, NC. Mrs. Hughes also was a member of the Unifour Senior Volunteer Group.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Debbie Goyette, of the home; sisters-in-law, Ella Mae Rogers of TN, Irene, Essie, Faye, and Dessie Woods; one brother, Fred Woods and wife, Sandy, of Darby, NC; one grandson, Donte’ Kincaid and fiancé, Lateashia Lofton; and one great grandson, Tay Kincaid.

A funeral service for Mrs. Hughes will be held Saturday, June 18, 2011 at 12:00 pm at Temple Baptist Church in Lenoir, NC with Pastor Joel Bixler officiating. Burial will follow the service at the Woods Family Cemetery in Darby, NC. The family will receive friends from 11:00 am until 12:00 pm prior to the service at the church.

Serving as pallbearers will be Alan Woods, Leonard Woods, Jackie Woods, Roger Woods, Kenneth Woods, and Michael Holsclaw. Honorary pallbearer will be Jerry Holsclaw.
