Ruby Scruggs

Stella Ruby Bolick Scruggs, 94, of Lenoir, passed away on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at the Shaire Center in Lenoir.

Mrs. Scruggs was born April 19, 1923 in Caldwell County to the late Millard Ambrose Bolick and Amanda Hollar Bolick. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Franklin Scruggs, five brothers, five sisters, and a great-great granddaughter.

Mrs. Scruggs was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother and a lilfelong member of Mulberry Baptist Church. Ruby was an avid quilt maker, making quilts for her family was one of her great joys. She also enjoyed cooking and spending time with her beloved family.

Those left to cherish her memory include her sons; Johnny Scruggs and wife Bernice, Steve Scruggs and wife Peggy and Tony Scruggs and wife Pansy, her daughter; Dianne Chester and husband, Bob, all of Lenoir, a sister, Pansy Bolick McLean of Lenoir and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.

A funeral service to honor Mrs. Scruggs will be held on Saturday, June 24, 2017 at Mulberry Baptist Church at 1:00 pm with Rev. James Todd, Rev. Bennett Helton, and Rev. Paul Gentry officiating. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service, from 12:00 until 1:00 pm at the church.

Serving as pallbearers will be Michael Scruggs, Andrew Scruggs, Eric Church, Chris Church, Tommy Wright and Pumroy Bolick.
