Mrs. Ruby Annie Pearl Clark Scott died peacefully on Sunday, September 1, 2019, one day shy of her 102nd birthday, at Life Care Center of Banner Elk, where she was a resident for the last fourteen years of her life. During her stay at Life Care Center she received exceptional care and was very much loved.
She was born in Forsyth County on September 2, 1917. Mrs. Ruby was a North Carolina native her entire life; she resided in both Winston-Salem and Lenoir, spending most of her adult life in Lenoir. She was married to Mr. Howard Scott for many years. He passed away in 1973.
Mrs. Ruby was an active member of Mt. Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church in Lenoir. She especially enjoyed singing in the choir. Mrs. Ruby was employed for 50 years with the J. Wade Kincaid family, with whom she earned a special place of honor. She will be remembered for her sense of humor, her faith, and her love of flowers and country cooking.
In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her daughter, Ruby Mae Scott Harbinson of Dorchester, Massachusetts and a granddaughter, Laura Mae New of Hickory. She leaves behind a grandson, James Edward New of California; and great-grandchildren Maraland New of Boston, Massachusetts, Acia Jackson of Winston Salem, Tessa Rain Jackson of Boone and Cainan New of Hickory.
A service to honor Mrs. Ruby’s life will be held on Friday, at 10:30 a.m., on September 27, 2019 at Mt. Pilgrim Missionary Baptit Church in Lenoir with the Rev. Ike Perkins officiating. A private burial will be held at a later date.
