Roger Ray Payne

Mr. Payne was born in Watauga County to the late Rex Colen Payne and Hazel Louise Broyhill Payne. He was employed with Kincaid Furniture in Hudson.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Virginia Carolyn Green and brother-in-law, Ernest Fred Greene.

Survivors include the mother of his children and caregiver, Etter Haskett; his son, Justin Ray Payne of Lenoir; his daughter, Selina Nicole Payne of Hudson; brothers, Colen Payne and David Payne both of Lenoir; sisters, Patricia Thompson of Lenoir and Diane Suttle of Todd, NC. He also leaves behind two grandchildren to cherish his memory.

Services for Mr. Payne will be held at Pendry’s Chapel, Thursday, September 6, 2012 at 3:00 PM with Reverend Jerry Woodie officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at a later date.
