Robert Carswell Jr.

Mr. Carswell was born in Caldwell County to the late Robert Carswell, Sr. and Ida Walker Carswell. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, a car dealer and a member of the First Baptist Church of Whitnel.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sadie Harris Carswell; a brother, Berlin “Wince” Carswell and sisters, Peggy Jaynes and Lorene Helton.

Survivors include his daughters Sherry C. Hamby and Pam C. Soots and her husband Michael, both of Lenoir; three grandchildren, Shannon Timbs and husband Joel, Chad Wendelborg and wife Amy and Hunter Soots; four great grandchildren, Devin and Levi Smith, Bethany and Natalie Wendelborg.

A funeral service will be held at the First Baptist of Whitnel at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 10, 2012 with the Reverend Stuart White officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday, March 9, 2012 from 7:00 until 8:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Whitnel. At other times, family and friends may visit open hours at the home of Pam and Michael Soots.

Serving as pallbearers will be Michael Soots, Kevin Carswell, Levi Smith, Chad Wendelborg, Joel Timbs and Devin Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be Dude Carswell, Richard Jaynes and Allen Hollar.
