“Buck” Odell Soots, age 86 of Lenoir, passed away on Friday, March 24, 2023 at his residence. Buck was born Thursday, August 20, 1936 to the late Lessie Cheek Soots and John Harrison Soots, in Caldwell County, NC.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Peggy Walsh Soots, sisters Mae Swanson and Sue Soots, brothers John Harrison Soots Jr., Bill Soots, and R.C. Soots, and grandson Jaron Soots. Left to remember the childhood memories is his brother, Bobby Soots, and a number of nephews and nieces.
Mr. Soots is survived by his children Cindy Bradshaw (Tommy), Connie Soots (Stan), Steve Soots (Lee Ann), Timmy Soots (Julia), and Danielle Soots. Buck was a wonderful “Paw” to Jason Bradshaw, Christin Beaver, Buck Soots, Katie Shatley, Jake Soots, Justin Jenkins, and Dalton Soots, along with nine great grandchildren.
Buck will be remembered for being a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. His happiest moments were spending time with his family and friends, sitting in the woods waiting for that “big buck”, wetting a hook in trout streams all over the mountains, or telling tales about the one that got away. He never missed watching a Carolina Tar Heels game or an opportunity to chat about them. Buck retired from Bernhardt Furniture in the upholstery department.
The Soots family will receive friends Tuesday, March 28, 2023 from 12:00 pm - 12:45 pm at Pendry's Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at Pendry's Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, March 28, 2023 at 1:00 pm with the Rev. Raymond Spann officiating.
Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, 1545 Orchard Dr, Lenoir, NC.
