She was born in Caldwell County on June 15, 1934 to the late Rufus Alvin Laws and Lizzie Wyke Laws. Mrs. Watson was the longest standing member of Calvary Baptist Church in Lenoir. She loved to garden and quilt in her spare time.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. David Emmanuel Watson; brothers, Carl Laws and Norman Laws; and sister, Gladys Suddreth.
Those left to cherish her memory include her sons, Rev. Ronnie Watson and wife Sherlene of Lenoir, Gary “Bongo” Watson and wife Sue of Lenoir, Steve Watson of the home, and Jeff Watson and wife Wanda of Lenoir; brother Garland Laws of Rutherford College; sisters Rachel Livingston and Delores Jones, both of Lenoir; ten grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren; and 9 great-great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Lenoir on Wednesday, August 28, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Alan Carr and Rev. Ronnie Watson officiating. The family will receive friends at Pendry’s Funeral Home, prior to the service, from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.
The family respectfully requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Sisters in Faith of Calvary Baptist Church, 1369 Blowing Rock Boulevard, Lenoir, NC 28645 or the Grace Baptist Church Missionary Fund, 3007 Morganton Boulevard, Lenoir, NC 28645.
