Mr. Mikeal was born in Caldwell County to Mary Elizabeth Nelson Mikeal of Gamewell and the late Clyde Mikeal. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Nelson Mikeal. He worked as a carpenter. He was a member of the Gamewell Optimist Club and coached youth and teen baseball. Never met a stranger, he loved all and was loved by all. He most dearly loved his family and friends. Was cheerful in all weathers, never shirked a task, and had splendid behavior.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Alice “Michele” Wilson Mikeal of the home; his son, Shane Wilson and wife Lacie of Sawmills; his brother, Tony Mikeal and wife Kim of Nebo; his sisters, Libby Harris and husband Bob of Hudson, and April Carlton and husband Rusty of Maryland; nephews, Cody Mikeal and wife Becky of Hickory, and Travis Carlton; great nephew, Koa Mikeal of Hickory and great niece, Reese Mikeal of Hickory.
A funeral service will be held Thursday, May 30, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Dry Ponds Baptist Church with Dr. Rick Crouse officiating. Burial will follow at Philadelphia Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday, May 29, 2013 at Dry Ponds Baptist Church from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.
Serving as pallbearers will be Moe Bean, Junior Saunders, Ralph Triplett, John Moore Allen Rudisill, Joey Smith, Allen Warren, Jerry Brown, Barry Waters, Johnny Main and Barry Moore. Honorary pallbearers will be Gary Bean, Jeff Benfield, Joe Don Biggerstaff, Jerry Brooks, Dave Christian, David Drum, Brian Hollar, Brad Hoover, Duck Hudson, Marty Huffman, Horry Kent, Mike Kent, Duck Mikeal, Jeff Moore, Doug Moss, Bob Prestwood, Hoss Prestwood, Scott Scruggs, Brent Swanson, Danny Swanson, Joey Watson, Mike Willis, and Gary Woods and many others who we may have overlooked during this difficult time, we apologize.
