She was born to the late Albert Grant Jenkins and Mattie Michael Jenkins on July 18, 1932 in Caldwell County.
Lillie retired from Broyhill Furniture after 21 years of service. After retirement she enjoyed bird watching especially hummingbirds. Lillie was a member of Miller Hill Baptist Church of Lenoir.
In addition to her parents, her brothers Louie, Jim, Jay, Ray, Dallas, Hoover, Sherrill Jenkins, sisters Elizabeth “Toots” Honeycutt, Jean Lewis, Mattie “Pie” Whittington, Catherine “Ta” Minton, Estelle “Sis” Suddreth, and Mattie Jane Jenkins all preceded her in death.
Those left to cherish her memories are her children; Gary Lee Jenkins (Alice), and Denise Hammond (Steve), grandchildren; Chris Jenkins (Carrie), Jason Jenkins, Matthew Hammond (Miranda), Thomas Hammond, and Stephanie Hammond, brother; John Jenkins, sister; Janet Jarvis, also surviving are 8 great grandchildren along with a host of other family and relatives.
A Memorial Service will be held Sunday, January 30, 2022, in the chapel of Pendry’s Lenoir Funeral Home at 3:00 p.m. Reverend Mack Jarvis, Jr., Officiating.
