Lester was born on November 21, 1919 in Lincoln County to the late Frank Little Scronce and Vernie Leonard Scronce.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Margaret Smith Scronce, brothers; Hal, Ray, Ben, Jack and, Dan Scronce, and sister; Lib Hoover.
Lester was a maintenance supervisor for the Broyhill home offices for over forty years, and was a proud Veteran of the United States Army, having bravely served his country during WWII in Northern France, Rhineland, and Central Europe. He received an American Service Medal, European African Middle Eastern Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and a World War II Victory Medal.
Those left to cherish his memory include his brothers, Bob Scronce of Crouse, Bill
Scronce of Asheville, and a sister; Betty Jane Sain of Vale.
A Graveside Service to honor Mr. Scronce will be held on Wednesday, June 12, 2019 at 2:00 pm at Mt. Grove Church Cemetery with Rev. Fred Mitschke officiating and Rev. Ken Smith assisting. Military Honors will be provided by the United States Army and the Caldwell Veterans Honor Guard.
Serving as pallbearers will be Shane Richard, Michael Sain, Joe Scronce, Charlie Hoover, Tim Smith and Spencer Smith.
The family will receive friends for one hour after the service, from 3:00 pm until 4:00 pm in the fellowship hall of Mt. Grove Church.
The family respectfully requests that memorials be made to Bethphage Lutheran Church at 3440 Hwy 182, Lincolnton, NC 28092.
