John Allen Reid

John Allen Reid, age 76 of Lenoir, passed away on Thursday, November 3, 2022 at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. Born October 12, 1946 to the late Etta Mae Reid Campbell and Calven Bumgarner in Granite Falls, NC.

In addition to his parents, he is proceeded in death by one Sister Ima Jean Grant and granddaughter Amanda Bostain.

John is survived by his wife of 33 years Kim Reid, his daughter Annette Bostain (Mark), son Robert Reid (Casandra), his grandchildren Casey Knepp, Sara Bostain, Jason Bostain, Aaron Reid, Emma Reid, Olivia Reid, Daryan Watson (Will), his loving dog Sadie, Cha Cha and Minnie and his horses.

John grew up in the Grace Chapel community of Caldwell County and graduated from Granite Falls High School. He retired in 2011 from Caldwell Freight Lines, as Vice President of Maintenance, with 45 years of dedication to the company. He was a charter member of the Grace Chapel Volunteer Fire Department and helped build two of their first fire apparatus. His love was farming, and was always most content working the fields, tending to their horses and cows or working on his tractors and farm equipment, which we called his rusty treasures. He loved being on the seat of a tractor. He cherished and loved his family and friends and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone that needed it.

A Celebration of Life will be held in the Chapel of Pendry’s Funeral Home in Lenoir NC, on Tuesday November 8, 2022 at 2:00 pm with the Rev. Robert Livingston officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1:00 pm – 2:00 in the Chapel.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to your favorite charity in John’s name.
