Jay Edward Moore, 81, of Lenoir went home to be with his Lord Saturday, October 5, 2013 at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care in Hudson.
Mr. Moore was the son of Jay E. Moore Sr. and Ruth McCall Moore. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Carol Moore and a sister, Norma Bowman. He lived in Texas after graduating high school until 2003 when he returned to North Carolina. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lenoir and was a past president of the Lydia Beane Sunday School Class, a charter member of Rufus Baptist Church in the Mulberry Community, a member of Dallas Texas Professional Golf Association and was retired from Brantiff Airlines in Dallas, Texas. He loved the Dallas Cowboys Football Team. Mr. Moore proudly served his country in the United States Air Force.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Nora Helen Sparks of the home; his sons, Bruce Moore and David Moore, both of Dallas, Texas; step-children Michael Farmer Benge of Sparta and Eric Benge of Lenoir; a sister, Doris Cowden of Lenoir; four grandchildren and four step-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. in Pendry’s Chapel with Dr. David Smith, Reverend Aaron Shell and Reverend Raymond Spann officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at Pendry’s Lenoir Funeral Home.
Serving as pallbearers will be Randall Dula, Tracy Wilson, Chuck McCall, Roger Greene, Eric Benge and Chase Benge.
