James Bernarr Roberts, age 91 of Lenoir, died peacefully on Saturday, November 12, 2022 at The Shaire Center. Born Wednesday, September 30, 1931 to the late Jennie Smith and James “Ivey” Roberts in Caldwell County NC.
In addition to his parents he is proceeded in death by his wife Jeanette Carole McDade; James is smiling as he rejoins her on the other side along with, brother Marcus Roberts, sisters Helen Watson and Patricia Holt.
Mr. Roberts is survived by his son James “Chris” Roberts (wife Ellen) and daughter Carol McCall (husband Mike), Brothers Kenneth Roberts and Basil Roberts. Sisters Inez Morrison and Theresa Barlow and also two grandchildren, Abby Still (husband Warren) and Katherine Moore, and three great grandchildren, along with a number of nieces and nephews.
James, will be remembered for being a loving husband and father. He was a member of Mount Hermon United Methodist Church. He served our country in the Korean War with the United States Army. James retired from Broyhill Furniture, Harper plant after 40 years. James loved to garden, cook, and provide for his family. He was a gentle soul filled with love, loyalty, dependability, a sense of humor, and kindness.
The Roberts family will receive friends Friday, November 18, 2022 from 1:30 pm - 2:15 pm at Mount Hermon United Methodist Church.
The Funeral Service for James will be held at Mount Hermon United Methodist Church, on Friday, November 18, 2022 at 2:30 pm with the Rev Tracy Love and Julie Roberts officiating.
Burial will follow at Mount Hermon United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Military Honors will be provided by the North Carolina Army National Guard and the Caldwell County Veterans Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the charity of your choice. We appreciate all the loving care provided by his caretakers at the Shaire Center and Amorem..
