She was born in Burke County on August 13, 1921, to the late Ules Dula and Gertrude Corpening Dula.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Banner; four sisters, Flossie Curlee, Ruby Johnson, Cora Johnson and Mary Liz Perkins; three brothers, Ulysses Dula, Herbert Dula and Andrew Dula.
Ida was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She loved to read and go for walks. She had an amazing love for children, and she raised her own plus cared for many more from other families. The children were her heart, and she will be missed by all who knew her.
Ida was a member of Hood’s Chapel United Church of God, Lenoir, NC, where she served as a member of the missionary, the usher board and secretary for the Sunshine Band.
Those left to cherish her memory are, two daughters, Sylvia Banner Morman of the home, Sandra Banner Blue of Flint Michigan; her grandsons, Brandon Banner (wife Willayna) of Harrisburg, NC, Garon Morman (wife Ebony) of Charlotte, NC; her granddaughters, Andria Morman Carlton (husband Aubree) of Boomer, NC, Morgan Blue of Flint, Michigan; a great- grandson, Brendan Banner of Charlotte, NC and a son-in-law, Gary Morman of Valdese, NC.
Also left to cherish her memory are a special nephew, Donald Banner, a special cousin, Carrie Jean Hood, a special niece-in-law Bessie Banner, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family extends its gratitude and appreciation to Ms. Rita Key who assisted in caring for Mrs. Banner.
The family will receive friends for one hour, on Friday, June 12th, 2020 from 11:00 am until 12:00 pm at Pendry’s Lenoir Funeral Home.
A private graveside service to honor Mrs. Ida Mae Banner will be held on Friday, June 12th, 2020 at Blue Ridge Memorial Park in Lenoir with Bishop Philmore Hester officiating.
