Mrs. Cochran was born in Boissevain, VA to the late Ed Kirk and Grace Dunford Kirk. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Arnold Oliver Cochran; three brothers; and a grandson Billy Joe Thompson, Jr. She was of the Baptist faith and retired from the furniture industry. She enjoyed working in her flowers and working outside.
Survivors include her son James Cochran and special friend Virginia Spears of Lenoir; daughters, Carolyn Thompson and husband Billy Joe Thompson, Sr. and Phyllis Rookstool, both of Lenoir; eight grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and seven great great grandchildren.
Services for Mrs. Cochran will be held Friday, March 30, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in Pendry’s Chapel with Dr. Steve Parker officiating. The burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Pendry’s Funeral Home Thursday, March 29, 2012 from 6:30 until 8:30 p.m.
Serving as pallbearers will be Kenneth Moretz, Roger Snead, Shannon Cochran, Kevin Miller, Ronnie Rookstool and Emmitt Penley.
