Rev. George Earl Wilcox

Rev. Wilcox was the founder and host of the Showers of Blessings TV ministry for 47 years and was a minister and pastor for over 50 years. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He loved fulfilling his lifelong desire of sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ with everyone with whom he came in contact. He was a blessing to so many with his outreach ministry and community involvement of helping others. He loved gardening and also enjoyed playing golf with his son-in-law. He attended Fruitland Baptist Bible College.

Born May 9, 1930 in Todd, North Carolina, he was the son of the late George Carl Wilcox and Rosalie Phillips Wilcox.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 57 years, Ila Mae Minton Wilcox, who passed away on October 24, 2007; four brothers and four sisters.

Those left to cherish his memory are his son, Steve Wilcox and wife Carolyn of Hildebran; daughters, Brenda Gragg and husband Alan of Granite Falls, Carol Conley and husband Bud of Claremont, Betty Emmett and husband Lynn, of Granite Falls and Lisa Starnes and husband Henry of Granite Falls, and six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Friday, November 29, 2013 from 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM at Liberty Fellowship Church, 4139 Old Brittain Road, Hildebran, NC 28602. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM with the Rev. Eugene Cantrell officiating. A private burial will be held for the family following the funeral.

Serving as pallbearers will be Jeff Gragg, Chris Emmett, Derrick Boyles, Fred Johnson, Josh Gragg, Todd Boyles and honorary pallbearer Logan Boyles.
