Mr. Hayes was born August 13, 1952 in Caldwell County to the late Irvin Hayes and Margaret Ragan Hayes.
In addition to his parents, his wife, Cynthia Kincaid Hayes and a sister, Ann Crump, preceded him in death.
Mr. Hayes was a mechanic for the North Carolina Forest Service for over 28 years. He loved the outdoors and was especially fond of fishing.
Those left to cherish his memory include his son, Junior Hayes of the home, companion of 24 years, Linda Little of the home, granddaughter Ariel Little of the home, daughter Shannon Little and fiance Alex Mackie of Helena Montana, brother Jeff Hayes and wife Pam of Lenoir, sister, Carol Jett and husband John of Lenoir and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.
A funeral service to honor the life of Mr. Hayes will be held on Monday, July 29, 2019 at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Pendry’s Lenoir Funeral Home with Rev. Brian Smith and Rev. Raymond Spann officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Park in Lenoir.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 28, 2019 at Pendry’s Lenoir Funeral Home from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm.
Serving as pallbearers will be Mike Hatton, Jeff Bumgarner, Jeff Burns, Eric Bartlett, Brandon Hayes and Barry Crump.
Memorials may be made to Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care in honor of Mr. Hayes at 902 Kirkwood Street, Lenoir, NC 28645.
