Charles Venoy Rich 79 went home to be with the Lord Sunday March 10th. He was born October 18th, 1939 to James Rich and Mable Philyaw Rich. He was preceded in death by his beloved Son Charles Venoy Rich Jr, both parents, and brothers Coleman (Stretch) Rich, and Troy Rich. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 57 years Dorothy, Son Steve Rich and wife Kim of Lenoir, Grandson Zach Rich and wife Abby of Hudson, and Grandson Colton Rich and Fiance Raven Ward of Lenoir.
Charles graduated from Collettsville High School where he was an All-County basketball player and JV basketball coach. He was a member of Oakwood Presbyterian Church where he served as Deacon and Elder for many years.
Charles retired from Kincaid Furniture as Foreman of the Sand Room after 39 years most of which he had perfect attendance.
Charles was a loving and caring Husband, Father, and Grandfather. Family was the most important thing in his life besides his personal relationship with Jesus Christ. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and loved taking trips to Pigeon Forge. Over the years he became famous at local gathering s for his tasty brown gravy. He was selfless and always put other’s needs above his own. He will be truly missed.
Services will be held at Pendry’s Funeral Home Thursday March 14. The family will receive friends at 1:00 and the funeral will follow at 2:00. Pastor Glenn Ward will officiate. Palbearers will include Jack Moss, Joe, Watson, Joe Williams, Zedrick Williams, Devin Huffman, and Dean Hatley.
