He was born in Caldwell County on September 28, 1927 to the late E. Frank Greene and Jessie Hamby Greene. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Melton Greene; daughter, Debbie Thomas; brother, Ceivel Greene; and sister, Marlene Honeycutt. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.
Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter, Cheryl Garrison and husband Charles Jr. of Morganton; brothers, Vernon Greene and wife Rosa of Hudson, Frank Greene Jr. of Lenoir, Jerry Greene and wife Kay of Hudson, Thom Greene and wife Diana of Lenoir, Larry Greene and wife Thelma of Lenoir; sisters, Willie Mae Hege of Lenoir and Betty McKinny of Greenville, South Carolina; son-in-law, Mike Thomas of Hudson; grandchildren, Aaron Thomas and wife Wendy of Hudson, and Allie Thomas of Hudson; and great-grandchildren Aaliyah Thomas and Tayler Magnus of Hudson.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, November 18, 2019 at Pendry’s Funeral Home chapel. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial with military honors, provided by the North Carolina National Guard, will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers the family respectfully requests that memorial contributions be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, 901 Seehorn Street, Lenoir, North Carolina 28645.
