Billy Ray Baker

He was a master carver by trade and traveled to many locations with his job. One of the many locations he traveled to was Taiwan, where he lived for one year. He received an accommodation as a World Class Master Carver.

Mr. Baker loved the Lord, enjoyed spreading the word, and blowing his shofar in church. He was a member of Church on the Rock in Sawmills, NC where he held various positions within the church. His love for others led him to participate in the food ministry at Crossroads Church.

He was very much in love with his wife and took pleasure in spending quality time with his family. His family was everything to him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Bob Baker; and a sister, Betty Hammond.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 55 years, Shirley Yvonne Baker; children, Monty Chris Baker, Revonda Brown (Dale), and Gwyn Baker; 10 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; brothers, Johnny Baker, Vernon Baker, Jr., Gene Baker, Roger Baker, and Steve Baker; and sisters, Rita Southerland and Brenda Shoemake.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 8, 2016,12:00 pm, at Grandview Park Baptist Church. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 7, 2016, 6-8 pm, at Pendry’s Funeral Home.

Interment will follow service at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
