Betty Jean Barrett

Born November 17, 1945 in Caldwell County, Betty was a daughter of the late Eulas and Hattie Price Shehan. Betty loved to sew and had worked in the furniture industry as a seamstress. She attended the Celia Creek Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Brenda Turnmire; and three brothers, James Carter Shehan, Eddie Shehan, and Gene Shehan.

Survivors include her husband of 47 years, Mancey H. Barrett of Lenoir; two sons and daughters in law, Thomas E. Barrett, wife Sherry, of Valdese and Michael L. Barrett, wife Shirley, of Granite Falls; her grandchildren, Kristina Barrett, Ashley Barrett, Gage Barrett, David Blish and Preston Huffman; she is also survived by numerous other relatives.

A funeral service for Betty will be held on Wednesday, March 4, 2014 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Pendry’s Funeral Home with Pastor Richard Shew officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Interment will follow the service in the Blue Ridge Memorial Park in Lenoir.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital at 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
