Mrs. Poarch was born in Caldwell County on November 4, 1935 to the late Reuben Drum and Virginia Rowe Drum.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James F. Poarch, a brother; David Drum and a sister, Joyce Hall and her husband Hal.
Barbara was a loving wife and mother. She retired from blowing Rock Furniture and was a dedicated member of Colliers United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir for over 60 years, was a member of the UMW and was also a Sunday School Teacher for many years.
Those left to cherish her memory include her devoted children; a son, Chris Poarch of the home, a daughter; Donna Rae Bumgarner and husband Randy of Lenoir, a brother, Perry Drum and wife Marilyn, sisters-in-law; Mary Sue Drum, Christine Secreast and husband Jim, Sandra Poarch, two grandchildren; Dustin Bumgarner and wife Melanie of Granite
Falls, Brock Bumgarner and wife Meredith of Hickory, great grandchildren; Emma, Sydnee and Maddie.
Also left to cherish her memory are numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.
A graveside service to honor Mrs. Poarch will be held on Wednesday, April 10, 2019 at 2:00 pm at Colliers United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Lori Ann Bowen officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at Colliers United Methodist Church, in the fellowship hall.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that memorials be made to Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care at 902 Kirkwood Street, Lenoir, NC 28645 or to The American Diabetes Association at 2451 Crystal Drive, Suite 900 Arlington, VA 22202.
