Born in Alexander County, he was the son of the late Arthur Franklin Reid, Sr. and Ola Bell Shore Reid. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Patricia Ann Reid.
Mr. Reid was an electrician and a proud veteran of the U S Army National Guard. He was an active member of Miller Hill Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. He was a past officer of the Gideon’s of Western North Carolina and former coach for Hudson Optimist Club.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Wanda Coffey Reid of the home; his sons, Lynn Reid and wife Jean of Lenoir, and David Reid and wife Debra of Hudson; his brother, Mack Reid and wife Arvie of Lenoir; a niece, Tammy Lynn Coffey of Baltimore, MD; four grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 13, 2013 in Pendry’s Chapel with Reverend Steve Walsh officiating. The family will receive friends at Pendry’s Lenoir Funeral Home on Thursday from 11:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. with services to follow. After services, burial will be at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Miller Hill Baptist Church 1230 Virginia Street, SW, Lenoir, NC 28645.
