Shirley passed away peacefully at her home on September 10, 2014 following a long illness. People who knew her will remember her happy smile and her sweet, caring, unselfish nature. Born in Ventura, CA, she was the second of four daughters of John Paul and Vera Feldman. Her family moved to San Diego when she was a young girl. She graduated from Hoover High School in 1947. Shirley joined E.S.D. Presbyterian Church (now known as Faith Presbyterian) in 1944. That is where she met and married her husband of 40 years, Charles “Ronald” Lochhead. They had three children, a son Jeffrey and two daughters, Kimberly and Karen. Shirley enjoyed playing the piano and she did so for many church and family functions. Shirley has joined those who have gone before her in heaven including her husband Ronald, son Jeffrey, parents John Paul & Vera and her sister Lois.
Shirley is survived by her two daughters and her son-in-law, Kimberly van Benthem & Karen and Rey Lyyjoki and her five grandchildren, Jennifer van Benthem and Matthew, Mikaela, Daniel & Andrew Lyyjoki, as well as her two sisters, Evelyn Bailey and Pauline Zacharias, as well as several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to give a heartfelt thanks to her wonderful caregivers, Jenny, Virginia & Myra. Also, we would like to thank Mission Hospice for their outstanding service and support.
Please join the family for an open house and celebration of her life at her daughter’s home, 8514 Rosada Way, El Cajon on Sunday October 19 from 2 pm to 4pm.
We will miss you sweet Shirley. There is a hole in our hearts and in our lives that only you could fill. Although your spirit will live on, your physical presence will forever be missed. You were truly loved.
