Doris E. Sorensen

She moved to Inyokern, California to work as a civil servant during World War II. Here she met and married Thomas Scott “Swede” Sorensen, LCDR, USN Retired, her husband of 54 years. During those years she traveled the world as a Navy wife and on into retirement. Doris and her husband also enjoyed spending time at the cabin they built in New Mexico. Reading, gardening and her love of animals kept her busy throughout her life.

Doris is survived by daughter Kimberly (John) Riesenfeld of Reisterstown, MD; son T. Scott (Stacy) Sorensen, Jr. of Spring Valley, CA; daughter Kate (Ken) Borden of San Diego, CA; seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. In addition, she is survived by niece Lianne Hollingsworth and nephew Linn Hollingsworth. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and brother, Richard K. Hollingsworth.

Funeral services will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to the San Diego Humane Society.
