Donald Steven Hoagland was born April 5, 1950 and passed away on May 23, 2013. Donald was born in Oakland, California the second son of Al and Helen Hoagland, and was a San Diego County resident since 1962 and was a fourth generation Californian.
Don graduated from Helix High School and obtained an Accounting Degree from San Diego State University. Don enjoyed traveling and visited such locales as Central and South America and toured many of the countries in Europe. Don had his own pilot’s license and also enjoyed surfing. Don’s always wanted to be a truck driver and fulfilled this ambition by working for Corovan as a commercial mover and supervisor for 12 years until forced to retire due to ill health. One of the highlights of his job was transporting the professional football teams’ equipment for the Charger home games.
He was preceded in death by his eldest brother John and infant brother David. Don his survived by his parents Al & Helen Hoagland, sisters Marcia Hoagland, Cheryl Still and Laura (David) Kerth, nephews Eros Hoagland, Myles and Evan Still, nieces Emily Moreno, Amber (Garret) Duke, Genna Still, and Allison Kerth and great-nephew Alexander Moreno and great-niece Kaya Moreno.
Don’s ashes will be returned to the ocean that he loved to surf.
