Charles Kenneth “Chuck” McLeod was born to Charles & Mildred McLeod on December 21, 1940 where he enjoyed humble beginnings in Detroit, Michigan. The family moved to El Cajon, California in 1953, determined and eager for new opportunities.
With strong roots in a Christian home, Chuck was always encouraged to work hard and challenge himself. Holding true to his upbringing, he honored his country by serving in the US Army, which included a tour in Germany. At times he would reminisce, kidding about how the troops weren’t allowed to explore the country while they were there. Fortunately, he was able to experience one of his biggest dreams later in life with his love, Marilyn, when they vacationed together in the homelands of Scotland and England. He often talked of this experience and the impact it had on his life.
Over the years Chuck continued to prove his courage and perseverance, taking on a true entrepreneurial spirit, and never giving up, even when the going was at its toughest. Some of his ventures included owning a gas station, truck driving, property management, real estate sales, and welding. He was tough as nails, yet he was tender hearted and sincere. Chuck reflected an endearing and enduring love for his family and friends. Time and time again he gave bits of himself to others touching so many lives, helping out wherever needed, lending advice, teaching a skill, and solving problems with genuine ingenuity.
Yes, he could be mischievous and stubborn as a mule, but he had a heart of gold and an indestructible love for Jesus. We have been privileged to share in his life, and now we celebrate as he returns from his long journey to be home with our Lord and those who have gone before him. Now, we “hold fast” to these wonderful memories and look forward to the time when we hear the bagpipe’s call and finally meet together again.
