A memorial service celebrating the life of Moriah Pristine Willis “Poomies”, 22, will be held Friday, April 12, 2013, 1:00 p.m. in the East Leesville Baptist Church sanctuary with Bro. Jerry Keys officiating.
Moriah was born May 4, 1990, in DeRidder, LA, to David Lynn and Deborah Annette Willis and made her journey home April 6, 2013; following a courageous battle with cancer.
While in school, she was an avid dancer attending the Joan Kathey Dance Center. Moriah was a cheerleader in middle school and was a member of the Golden Cavaliers dance-line in high school. She loved spending time outdoors and was a friend to all the wild life around her home. Watching the Food Network was a favorite pastime, as she enjoyed trying all different kinds of food. Old movies were her passion, with her favorite being “Gone with the Wind”. Moriah also held a love for all types of ole’ school music like Ella Fitzgerald. The mountains of East Tennessee was home for the Willis family, and she always looked forward to the family trips to Tennessee. She loved her grannies and visiting with family members, but especially multitudes of close friends. Her schnauzer “Misty” (aka Woo-Woo) was nearest to her heart, and stayed beside Moriah since she was a pup. Moriah will leave behind a legacy of unconditional love towards others for she had a special place in her heart for those in need.
Moriah is preceded in death by her grandfather, Ret. First Sargent Charles Sidney Willis, her granny, Amolee Willis Golobe and step-grandfather Ret. SFC Michael Golobe. Left to cherish Moriah’s joyous memories will be her parents; her maternal grandparents, Luzie B. and Ret. CSM Clyde D. Curtis; two brothers: Dillon J. Willis and Dustin P. Willis; one sister, Amanda N. Willis Runnels and husband Michael of Conroe, TX; two aunts, Simone N. Curtis, and “Chicky” L. Curtis;one uncle, Brian L. Hayes; one nephew, Mason Franklin Runnels; one cousin, David A. Hayes; her great-aunt, Mayfree Waters of Erwin, TN, and numerous extended family members from Erwin, TN, Blytheville, Arkansas, and many wonderful, extended family and friends.
